I wasn't shooting for a client the day I made these — just a camera along on an afternoon at Quails' Gate, one of West Kelowna's best-known wineries. But it's the kind of place that's hard to visit with a camera and not come home with a full card. The terrace overlooks the lake, the vineyard rows run right up to the edge of the view, and the light in late afternoon does most of the work for you.

The main tasting terrace overlooks row after row of vines with the lake beyond — one of the more reliably photogenic views in the Okanagan wine region, and the reason most visitors bring a camera in the first place.
The Tasting Room Details
A glass of Quails' Gate's Field & Flight rosé, a scatter of corks on a wooden table — the small still-life details around a wine tasting make for some of the more useful shots if you're building out a broader set, not just landscape frames.
The Old Farm Market Building
Quails' Gate's rustic log cabin structures — leftover from the property's farming history — sit right alongside the more polished winery buildings. The contrast in textures between weathered wood and manicured vineyard is worth working into a wider shot list.
Not every good shoot needs a client brief. Sometimes it's just a good glass of wine and light that won't wait for you to catch up.
